The Ergon history starts in 1963. The company was founded by CBR, a cement factory in Lier on an industrial zone of 24 ha, along the canal of the Nete. This made it possible to count on advantageous supply facilities of the necessary raw materials.

From 1988 till 1996, Ergon was in the hands of the Finnish group Partek. In 1996, the company got back into Belgian hands and was finally taken over by the Irish group CRH in 2004.
